A big Welcome Back to everyone and I hope all our families had a wonderful and fun time during the holiday break.  :)

School-time is here again and yes, another long term of 11 weeks!  I am sure the children are well relaxed and are 'bursting' to jump back into learning!

We have another busy term with...*the Choir performance with  Suzanne Prentice, *our                 Shave-Off fundraiser for 2 of our boys that have spent time in Starship Hospital to just name a couple.

Merging Kawerau Schools

Yes we have heard back from the Ministry of Education regarding the schools that were to be merged.  The Ministry has opted for Option C - merging Putauaki School with Kawerau North and Central and closing down the Kawerau Intermediate and Kawerau South school is now going from Year 0 to Year 8.  The Ministry will wait for the replies of all the schools effected and will then reply with their final answer in the middle of June.  Our next step is now to decide, what do we do as a School and Parenting Community while we are waiting for the final date?  We have a school meeting next week to revisit Option C again, answer any questions you may have and what will we do as a over-all community.  We would greatly appreciate your attendance.  Another newsletter reminding you of this meeting will be sent home Monday afternoon.  :)

Portfolio Books need to come back...

If you still have portfolio books at home, please send these back ASAP.  Our children will begin working in these this week.  :)

Parents, please don't forget to view our 2011 wikispace and let Miss Lafaelle which site you prefer. You can do this by commenting below, joining the 2011 wikispace and then commenting OR letting me know at school.   I will try to keep both Wikispace and Weebly site up-to-date with information.  Let me know how well the sites loaded and how quickly or slowly, and what kind of information you prefer to see or if you already like what information is presented at the moment.

Thank you :)

Choir...sing, sing, sing!

Our School Choir managed by Mrs Martin-Paling and Mrs Rangi had been practising every week during term 1 and still have many practices to go this term.  The choir will be performing with Suzanne Prentice this term, in Week 4.  We have quite a few children from Tarawera in the choir and we look forward to viewing their performances over the weeks leading up to the big night as part of their 'audience training'!  Tickets are now on sale but are $18 per adult and $12 per child (and can be ordered through out school.
See our Office ladies).

Venue:  Liberty Centre, Whakatane
When:  Thursday 26th June, 7;30pm

*Check out the Suzanne Prentice, Kids4Kids YouTube clips I found (below).  These are songs she has done with other School choirs elsewhere in NZ.  Much of the funds will be passed on to World Vision!
